Open Problems from the Workshop “emerging Applications of Measure Rigidity” Held at the American Institute of Mathematics

چکیده

1.1. It is well-known that an Anosov diffeomorphism is structurally stable: every C-diffeomorphism which is sufficiently close in C-topology to an Anosov diffeomorphism is topologically conjugate to it. However, the conjugation map is not differentiable in general. On the other hand, Anosov actions by higher rank abelian groups exhibit much more rigid behavior (see [93] for the first result of this type). It was shown in [97] that most of known algebraic Anosov Zand Ractions, k ≥ 2, are locally C∞-rigid. Recall that a C∞-action of Z is called locally C∞-rigid if any C∞-action of Z which is sufficiently C-close to this action is conjugate to it by a C∞-map. A C∞-action of R is called locally C∞-rigid if any C-small perturbation of this action is C∞-conjugate to it up to an automorphism of R.

Problems from the Aim Chip-firing Workshop

These problems come from the “Generalizations of chip-firing and the critical group” workshop held from July 8th–12th, 2013 at the American Institute of Mathematics in Palo Alto, California. A reading list for the workshop included the papers [7], [11], [19], [21], [28], and [30], as well as David Perkinson’s website devoted to sandpiles [29]. The problem session was moderated by Vic Reiner. Th...

A Mixed Integer Programming Formulation for the Heterogeneous Fixed Fleet Open Vehicle Routing Problem

The heterogeneous fixed fleet open vehicle routing problem (HFFOVRP) is one of the most significant extension problems of the open vehicle routing problem (OVRP). The HFFOVRP is the problem of designing collection routes to a number of predefined nodes by a fixed fleet number of vehicles with various capacities and related costs. In this problem, the vehicle doesn’t return to the depot after se...

A Summary of Results and Problems Related to the Caccetta-Häggkvist Conjecture

This paper is an attempt to survey the current state of our knowledge on the Caccetta-Haggkvist conjecture and related questions. In January 2006 there was a workshop hosted by the American Institute of Mathematics in Palo Alto, on the Caccetta-Haggkvist conjecture, and this paper partly originated there, as a summary of the open problems and partial results presented at the workshop. Our thank...
